This past Saturday hadn't even dawned when our van headed up the mountain. Cold, wet, foggy. . . perfect weather for me, but not for the piper. :o) It seriously felt like a whole different world up there! The occasion? Sara had competitions at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games.
She placed in both categories she had entered. We're so proud of our piper! :o)
Because of the weather, the tuning wasn't holding very well.
The tired but happy piper after her comps. Guess that's what you get for waking up at 2:30 in the morning.
Oh say, can you see?
This was by far the most densely populated Games we have been to thus far.
Massed bands. . .
So glad Dad wasn't as intimidated by the crowds as I was!
Heavyweight comps. . . the caber toss.
The Highland Fling. . .
It was a good day, but, boy! were we ever glad to see our pillows! :o)
Sara even brought a piece of Grandfather Mountain home with her! . . . the mud, I mean . . . not the ghillie brogues. :o)
Sara is available as a solo piper. Visit her website!
